Day 208 - A Question of Prayer

Share/Bookmark

I woke this morning with a thought, it came to me during my morning prayers. The thought goes like this "When you pray for what is in opposition of God's plans you are unsuccessful. When you pray God's will be done, you are always successful".

Honestly I don't know if this is right or wrong but it makes sense to me. The members of my church prayed, and let me tell you, those folks are some mighty prayer warriors. How hard, how mighty or how earnestly they prayed could not change the outcome. Pastor Ken left us, he was called home. He died to soon, too young and to suddenly, but he died in God's time. No amount of prayer was going to change this. God knew Pastor Ken's mission was complete even if we didn't. Pastor Ken did not die because we sucked at prayer.

Interestingly, a family member asked me a question about prayer and this came to mind. I'm not sure I helped, I'm not sure this popped into my head this morning for just this occasion. Honestly, I don't know much. What I do know is that when I pray, I feel better. That's enough for me.

Peace ~

Today I'm grateful for:

prayer. I'm not very good at it but God don't seem to care much that I do. He just loves me for trying

random texts from God. Today's was "the more you worry, the more negativity you will manifest. Have faith" This is on the heels of a night filled with me worrying about random issues then saying to myself "Let it go "thy will be done"" Yeah, I know, right?

cool offices. My office rocks and the mammoth desk has actually grown on me. Tomorrow, if the demon phone finds a new victim, I'll take some pictures for you my loyal stalkers. I can't believe there are 37 38 of you now! What are you guys doing out there?

23 Facebook comments on this photo. Most ever! Made me feel great! XOXO!

getting through the day. It was a tough one and I let a freak get under my skin. "I'ma get a lawyer!" "Dude, if you can find a lawyer to help you sue me because I towed your 1979 Olds Cutlass with tags that expired 2 years ago and a flat tire, I will GIVE you my car. Get it street legal by Monday or I'll drive it to the dump myself!" *hangs head* "Dear Lord, please forgive me for loosing my patience and being rude." What can I say, I may be a superhero, but I'm human. I make mistakes and I get mad. *sighs* Good think boss 1 loves me, even when I'm a naughty superhero.

coming home to my man, couch surfing and hand holding. It's the best way to end a day. Even better than rad  lightning shots.

  1. Your comments on not being very good at prayer ring very true for me. I've always thought that I wasn't doing it right or often enough and almost always start out with an apology for taking so long to do it. Thank you for reminding me that He's not keeping score.
