Day 137 - Monkey Minute & Monday Gratitude

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”

Have you ever peed in the shower/bath/pool?
Yes, but the most fun is when I pee in the ocean dog paddling next to my husband waiting for him to say "Hey! I can feel that you know!" I giggle like I'm 4. *sighs* good times that...

What is your biggest pet peeve?
People who do not use their blinkers. It's an epidemic here in the south. If a car in the South has it's blinker on there is one of two things going on. A) it was on when the car was purchased or B) it's a tourist

What's the story behind your blog title?
It used to be called "A life of Gratitude". It is a goal of mine to ground my life in gratitude. I firmly believe that what you put out into the world you get back. I also believe that being grateful for what you have tells the universe you are ready for more. I wanted to do a 365 project so I changed the name 1/1/10 to what it is today.

What is your definition of success?
I never really thought about it. I knew I had turned my life around and I was now in possession of a successful life but it was a random thought. Nothing I really hammered down. UNTIL, I watched the remake of the movie FAME! The movie was not really all that good but one scene, the graduation speech, caught me by surprise. It said everything I was feeling and everything I believed. It is the PERFECT definition of success.

“There are some things success is not. It’s not fame. It’s not money or power. Success is waking up in the morning so excited about what you have to do that you literally fly out the door. It’s getting to Work with people you love. Success is connecting with the World and making people feel. It’s finding a way to bind together people who have nothing in common but a dream. It’s falling asleep at night knowing you did the best job you could. Success is joy and freedom and friendship. And success is Love.”

If you were famous, what would you want to be famous for?
I have no use for fame and no desire to be famous. Those I wish to know me, know me. Fame takes more than it gives. It's like a drug and I already have far too many addictions. Were I famous, I would give it away to someone better suited to it and more desiring of it.

Today I'm grateful for:

the life changing effect of living a grateful life. No one will ever get just how much I've changed. Not even those closest to me. That used to bother me but not anymore. Now it's like a secret only God and I share. *whispers* Hey, thanks big guy. I'll do my best to make you proud.

feeling pretty. I LOVE this fluffy white gypsy skirt paired with a little bright yellow blouse and a sweet pair of leather pumps. Oh yes, I feel pretty, oh so pretty...

house peeking. I'm not really interested in a new house BUT, this one is directly across from the BFF and currently on the market exactly $200,000 less than what it was selling for in 2005. Oh, and the man is drooling over the 3 car garage. We get to peek inside tonight.

Publix sushi. It's not Cuban but it's better than peanut butter samiches.

my morning workout. Normally I LOVE my morning workout. This morning however I struggled. I just didn't want to do it but I just did it. My reward was that I completed 5 full sprints and they were EASY. Wow...

my man getting a day off. He gets them so rarely I'm just glad he got one. He is out on the golf course in the rain. I hope he's having fun and breaks under 90. *sneaks in a little golfers prayer for the man*

Golfers Prayer

“Almighty God, as we play through our 18 holes of life, we pray that you will give us a drive that’s both long enough to reach our goals, and yet straight enough to keep us out of trouble.

“Help us avoid the traps and hazards of life; nevertheless, should we find ourselves in them, give us the tools, skills and desire to escape them with no penalty. May we always stay in bounds.”

“Help us to be willing to stand by - and not play through - those in genuine need. May we always play with honor.”

“And finally, when we’ve putted out on the 18th green, we pray that we will have demonstrated the integrity of our character, so that you will judge us worthy enough to join your threesome and play eternally on your heavenly course. Amen.”

emails from my cousins. Started my morning off with an "Awe!" and a warm fuzzy.

feeling less lost.

failing. When I succeed with ease I learn nothing and gain arrogance. When I fail I learn and gain humility. Today I fail, I struggle and I learn. Tomorrow I will succeed humbly.

music.

I'm adding this one to my life's soundtrack.
OH, and the video is simply brilliant.

  1. I agree on the blinkers. It irks me when people don't use them, it is VERY annoying.
