Day 67 - Monday, Monday...

Monday Monday, can't trust that day,
Monday Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh Monday morning, you gave me no warning of what was to be
Oh Monday Monday, how yould cou leave and not take me.
~"Monday Monday" The Mommas and the Papas~

******
Today I'm grateful for:

having a good morning. Despite waking late the fact thatthe Lord is STILL trying to teach me patience and humility, I've managed to maintain a relatively good attitude. With each ring of the phone, leaky bowl of chicken soup, and freak with a bad attitude it's slipping away. Come on purple cape of awesomeness do your job! *flourishes sharpie and yells for HELP!*

a good morning work-out for both Roy and I. It's most likely the source of my remaining good attitude.

fresh strawberries & vanilla "K" bars. Awesomeness in breakfast form.

my mother's giggles. Her laughing at me reminds me to laugh at myself. Besides, I laughed at her 51 inches of snow so I had it coming.

the man on the mend. He is still as sick as can be but his fever broke last night and he managed to eat something. I'm convinced God is letting him live, though he may not be quite yet.

tarragon chicken salad & chicken soup for lunch. Nom, nom, nom...

Andy Stanly podcasts.

the song in my head. "Monday, Monday" by the Mommas and the Papas

God’s grace, love and infantine patience. Were it me, I’d have turned me into a frog by now.

This is like my all time favorite photo of them
Yes, it's a repeat, bug off, it's Monday

I have this song stuck in my head "Monday Monday" by the Mommas and the Papas. I guess there are worse songs to have stuck in your head. The theme from The Barney show springs to mind, along with that song from Lamb Chop. You know the one "This is the song that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends" yeah, that one.

Given the fact that it's Monday, everything around me is falling to pieces, the freaks are beating their tribal drums and the man still has the flu, I'd say that if having "Monday Monday" stuck in my head is my biggest complaint of the day, I should just shut up and consider myself lucky.

To what do I attribute my stable mood? Well I'm glad you asked. To you my 5 stalkers and to you, the world in general, I share my secret. Psst, all my fellow bi-polar, menopausal, superheroes scootch up a little closer so you can hear. It's EXCERCISE! Seriously, I kid you not. When your shrink or your GP or your neighbor’s cat tells you "to help decrease the effects of the change of life, exercise has been found to have significant benefit" do NOT do what I did which was to roll my eyes and blew them off as a quack.

The last few days I've been getting substantial and regular exercise. Given the events over the last 3 or 4 days, I believe this is what's kept the storm at bay. Normally I can handle one minor annoyance, even two or three, but when we start talking about 4 or more, and PUBLIC embarrassment? Oh Lord have mercy that sets me off. I get to yelling and screaming and saying things that are....well...not nice. Sproks start flying, my head starts spinning around and pea soup starts to dribble from the corners of my mouth.

But instead of all that, I'm sitting at my desk on a Monday afternoon, connected to my gratitude and humming along with the Mommas and the Papas. So I ask you, if you’re in the midst of your own mood wave, what's it going to hurt to go for a walk? What do you have to lose?

Hey, I saw that. Don't roll your eyes at me. They may get stuck that way.

Monday Monday

Ha! I dare you!

  1. Exercise is the best! It saved me from depression, insomnia and strokes my ego too ;) But I totally know what you mean about rolling your eyes. Ha! But it is pretty amazing and I am sooooo glad you know the secret :)

  2. wish I had listened years ago. Perhaps I would not be so fluffy now :(

This is a case of better late than never I suppose. Though this is a regret that's hard to ignore every time I try and zip my jeans.
