Day 201 - Oxymoron

Oxymoron Defined

Honk if you are against noise pollution!
I’m not going to say, “I told you so.”
I am a deeply superficial person. -Andy Warhol
I can resist everything but temptation. -Mark Twain
May I ask a question?
Parting is such sweet sorrow. -William Shakespeare
An Irishman is never at peace except when he’s fighting.
“I always avoid prophesying beforehand because it is much better to prophesy after the event has already taken place. ” - Winston Churchill

I am an oxymoron in human form. I came to this conclusion when I let my daughter talk me into yet another rocker tee. I have amassed quite a collection. This thing is one of the worst in my collection as far as being "age appropriate". It's more an "Epic Fail" poster than a "Rocker Tee". No one outside the age of 14 and 100 lbs. should have the balls to put this thing on. *shrugs* Oh well, I like it and so does June. And for $9 I'm more than willing to own it.

Now that's not what makes me an oxymoron though. The fact that from the waist up I have a cute little rocker tee, butt long hippie hair, HUGE silver hoops in my ears, way too many cheep stretchy bracelets and a Man's oversized Mickey watch and from the waist down I have a grandma Wal-Mart skort, support hose and "comfortable" flats does.

Or...

Being a 47 year old grandma of 3 who drives a little red Mustang with the windows down blasting Bill Gaither & Shawn McDonnald and blasting Pearl Jam, George Thorogood & Jason Mraz in the office.

Or...

That I profess to be a pacifist but my favorite weapon is a spork. Not because it's classy and cool, but because to kill someone with a spork takes planning, skill, and a great deal of effort.

Or...

Wanting a tattoo BAD but wanting trying struggling to be a good Christian wife who submits with grace.

Or...

OK, OK, you get the picture.

This has been going on for several years now. I thought after awhile it would settle down and I would start to level out but Nooooo. If anything it's gotten worse. Everything about me seems to be at opposite ends of the spectrum and it all came to a head this morning. As I was looking at myself in the mirror I could almost see the thought bubble materialize. For a second there I almost thought it did. The hamster was behind me chewing on his bone and actually stopped, looked up and coked his head to one side as if he too saw it.

Um, what was I saying...?

Oh yeah, the thought bubble, in it was only one word "Oxymoron"

You know what? I kinda dig it. It’s very…Me

Today I'm grateful for:

oxymoron’s. The fact that I can define it and spell it is further proof I am it. Besides that, most of them just make me giggle.

rocker tees. They...well...rock

dressing like I'm 12. How else would you expect a superhero to dress? We are not a conservative bunch. Have you see Batman's costume?

little red mustangs. Just driving her brings me joy and the occasional double take I get when they see an old fluffy blond chick rocking out to Amazing Grace gives me my daily grin quota.

God. He made me this way and he don't seem to be sorry about it. That's radical dude.

taking pictures. I'm not all that but I am a bit of something and it just plain makes me happy. I can think of no better reason.

Mystifying the grammar checker. I think I just blew its mind. BWAHAHAHAH!!!

"Taking Chance" Neither my husband or myself can remember adding this movie to our Netflix queue but it showed up at my house about 3 weeks ago. The man and I finally broke down and watched it. It was awesome. If you know, have known, loved, lost or were a member of the military, watch it. You won't be sorry.

my little office. I just loves it to bits. I'm in here, my music is going softly and I'm eating my lunch in peace. "Ahhhh"

  1. Another great post!! Love the rocker tee that you totally are a superhero in! Jealous me!
Think it is a little wild that you and your hubby got Taking Chance by mistake. This is the movie that I my hubby went above and beyond to get a few weeks back after it was recommended that we see it and yeah, it was worth it. Great movie!
We let our boys watch it too. Kind of serious for them but they got it and I praise God for that!
    Love you Beth!!
