Day 165 - Humility

“We come nearest to the great when we are great in humility.”

Some of you may remember my lesson in humility. Taught to me by an 8 lb hamster. It was painful and humiliating and apparently, didn't stick. I'm hoping I got it this time because the very idea of what my next lesson could look like leaves me shaking in my boots. Trust me, when an 8 lb hamster pulls you off a big pink bike on a public street, you just don't forget that.

Today I'm grateful for:

Softer lessons. Lord, I got it this time. I promise! *crosses heart*

the fact that I'm at work and not at home. Apparently the hamster is puking again and the Pixie is not at all happy about it. Better her than me dude. I sure wish I knew what keeps making him do that.

more than a week with NO piles in the house. Not even on the treadmill. We had one puddle but the Pixie admitted she forgot to walk him. Atta'Boy Roy!

complements on my photos. Yes, yes, I know, I am merely the instrument and God is the musician but hey, I'm still grateful for all the nice words. They are building my confidence enough that I may just be able to pull off what God wants me to do. After all, he gave me this vision for a reason. I just hope I'm going in the right direction. The praise helps me to feel like I am.

my church. They seriously rock. I know, I say it a lot but hey, you just can't fight the truth.

photo contests. They are like lotto tickets. They have very little value beyond entertainment but for a little while they are fun to think about.

knowing my limitations. Stack my ability up against your average point-n-shooter and I appear quite talented. Stack me up against even an average pro and I just can't compete. But you know what? I'm OK with that. I know my dream is not to become famous from my photography, it's just to be enjoy what I'm asked to do with it. Whatever that may be. That's a really good feeling yo

I will never be another Ansel Adams but that's OK
God doesn't want me to be Ansel Adams, just me
