Day 113 - I'm an Odd Duck

"Being odd is a virtue. I am an odd duck and happy to be so"
~Beth Reed~

Today I'm grateful for:

being odd. Normal is over rated.

comfort in my own skin. I am, at least for breif moments in time, comfortable in my own skin. It's been a hard battle to win and even harder to sustain, but when I acheive it I wallow in it like a dog rooting around on his back in a sunspot. One day...

my D.J. this morning. Lilly, my hot pink iPod is set to random but there was nothing random in the songs she played this morning. With each song I became more and more convinced who my DJ was and what he was trying to tell me. The soundtrack of my morning told me "dance barefoot in the sand and quit stressin. You got this" To you my DJ I say "I love you and I miss you"

mean people. My glass cage has been inundated with mean people the last 2 weeks. Seriously mean. Gnashing teeth, shaking fist, law suit kinda mean and yes, I'm grateful for them. They've forced me to find my inner grace and they spotlight a kind person who happens to wander in.

the mood I'm in today. It a cross between "Don't worry, Be happy" and "Fantasy" I know, righ? It's an odd, mellow, peaceful, kinda happy kinda not happy but not sad either, breezy, I got this, kinda mood. Yeah, totaly random and completly odd but I'm profoundly grateful for it. Given what I have to do today, it's a gift from the Universe.

Yeah, like this

This is yet another day I should be feeling sad and blue. OK, if not sad then at least somber but I just can't. My morning was just too...what? Just....DAMIT! ME the freakin wordsmith, just can't find the right words to describe it, but it's left me in a place of comfort and peace. I feel odd and I feel happy that I'm odd. Get it?

To top off a morning of great workouts, no poo flinging, a good butt day and a great hair day, my iPod, set to random, played the following on my morning commute:

How deep is your love - BeeGees
Neverland Medley - Kenny Loggins
Mississippi Squirrel - Ray Stevens
Little David - James Taylor (best version I could find)
Son of a Preacher man - Dusty Springfield
La Donna e Mobile Redux - East Village Opera Company
Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffett
Crying Shame - Jack Johnson
Mr. Bojangles - Keith Urban and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (this is THE best version)
Minstrel of the Dawn - Gordon Lightfoot
These are the days - Jamie Cullum
Dream - Priscilla Ahn

Now, to you, this may seem random but to me? It's a clear message from a guest DJ.
This is EXACTLY how I feel

  2. Universe sister eh? I do like the way that sounds! I'll have to steal that too.

My weekend is full of memorials and funerals but I'll do my best to squeeze some goodness into it. Just cuz you told me to.
