Day 174 - I'm Still Your Mother Yo

Yesterday I had a conversation with my eldest about one of my latest "Ooop's" that pissed off her Other. At first, I didn't get what he was so mad about. I mean, he has daughters, he should be able to empathize right?

Apparently, when your daughter spawns a daughter, you cease being your daughters mother. At least...they "forget". Now, they remember you on mother's day, and call you mom, and all that. But when you send them a song about being their mother, or speak of someone hurting your child, their minds go directly to their own children. They forget that THEY are YOUR child. And you know what? I've done it to my own mother.

So, for me, on my 47th birthday, I ask all you mothers out there to look at your daughters. Take a cosmic time out and watch them closely. Let the full scope of your love for them wash over you. Breath in the intensity of it. Let your heart swell till you feel the physical ache of it. Think back to the very first moment you held them. Think about all the firsts, all the lasts, all the love.

Now look at your mother looking at you.

Peace ~

Today I'm grateful for:

being my mother's daughter. I see you looking at me Mom. I love you.

birthdays. They are a perfect excuse for blowing off work outs and stuffing your face full of Pixie made Angel food Cake! Warning: do not get your fingers between my mouth and that cake. You will loose a digit.

being 47. The last 3 years have been the best of my life. I dress like I'm 20, I act like I'm 12, I think like I'm 4 and I love like I'm timeless. I can't wait to see what 47 brings.

free food. Boss 1 is taking me out for Greek Salad *drools*

birthday wishes. I have everything I could wish for. This years wish I'm going to give away.

SYTYCD. The performance show is on my birthday. I'm going pretend Nigel did it just for me. "Thank you Mr. Nigel Lythgoe sir!" *salutes*

my birthday being on Hump Day. I find that amusingly appropriate.

<---- this sign. It's in my front yard and still makes me giggle.

facebook birthday wishes. Love, I has a mad one.

my spiffy tie dyed peace sign rocker tee. It makes me feel 12. Me? 47? No way....prove it.

being old enough to know I don't know it all and young enough to be excited by that fact.

  1. Oh my gosh! Happy birthday lady!!! I am not a mom, but I am a daughter. So I guess I'll just appreciate your wish of love :)

And I think this is one of my fav things you've written so far: "I dress like I'm 20, I act like I'm 12, I think like I'm 4 and I love like I'm timeless."

    Blessings my Universe Sista!
